As a nurse, Leah Black has cared for patients during every stage of life. She began her career as a midwife and served as an OR nurse for a children’s hospital. Now, she’s a wound care/ostomy nurse and hopes to do hospice nursing in the future.

Marcia’s true-life calling can be summed up in three short words: Pay it forward. “It was a family thing,” says Marcia. “We were always taught by my parents to help other people and ‘pay it forward’.”
She enrolled at Evergreen to begin a new chapter of her life at the age of thirty-eight. The degree became a springboard to successful jobs with the U.S. Department of Labor and the City of Bellevue.
Since graduating from Evergreen in 1977, John Hennessey has made a difference for countless others. As an investor, he has helped entrepreneurs launch small businesses.
